Living in Brazil I am enjoying the culture, commenting on the differences, celebrating local expressions and inviting others to enjoy all Brazil has to offer.

Globeleza, an only-in-Brazil Carnaval phenom
Each year the television network Globo features a body-painted naked beauty in commercials running up to Carnaval. This 30 second spot runs at all hours of the morning, noon and night. Only-in-Brazil!
The Machismo culture at it's best!! Could you picture a painted naked man dancing? Me neither!!! This is the one time of the year I am glad to be away from Brazil! :)
I appreciate that local values allow explicit breast feeding demonstrations on morning shows to teach new mothers how best to care for their infants -- but dancing painted ladies... hmmmmm
Ray - there was a Faustão show a year or so ago that DID include painted naked men (with a tuck and cover piece). I must admit - I watched the whole segment. ;-)
But of course, in terms of fair and equal - not the same dynamic.

I swear wasn't this the same woman from last year? She was rather...unforgettable. It definately gets you in the spirit so I don't mind the overuse =)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Jana, she is definitely the same woman. The Globeleza before her ran for many years...
ReplyDeleteLove it, Jim! We had to share on Bobo Feed with our winter-challenged friends!
ReplyDeletePutz !! Totally naughty !! Be sure many Brazilians, including me, agree with Ray and Gil !
ReplyDeleteRay and Gil said it all.
